An abrupt rush of movement in a still place Created from an unexpected source What should have been cold, frozen; was anything but It was a raging river born out of beryl glaciers Unrelenting; overflowing I could do nothing to stop the unforeseen surge It overtook me; absolute A part of me yearned to reach out for shore; to stop the rapid velocity But I was helpless; drawn further into the icy currents How could such a wintry sight ignite such a fire inside of me? It was only then; mind deep below the surface would I understand Those beacons of frigid ice were not the bearers of the chill That truth lay somewhere within my own I was not drowning in the river; I had been sunk long ago The azure rocks were my salvation; a second chance to feel the flame A wave of a hand matches the power of the turbulent water A wave of anticipation and the need to be taken further away By the river of fire; eyes shaped of ice
